As we head on pass the half of this year, getting to have witnessed a number of exceptional performances by our local and even  international dance companies, here are some more dance events to look forward to in all different flavours of amazing performances.

Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival

First up on the list is a truly interesting crossover of visual art and performance art on this one of a kind festival explored the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC).

Not your average dance festival, as it is a remarkable platform for not only Asian choreographers, and dancers, but filmmakers as well.

If you have missed the first few days of this festival, don’t miss a few more days of this extraordinary event, on going until the 16th of September at the CCDC.

Hong Kong Cool

Perhaps one of the coolest collaborations Hong Kong Ballet has came up with!

“The idea is simple: Seven world premieres by seven Hong Kong-based choreographers, each paired with a local artist working in a different medium.  Resulting to an explosive celebration of Hong Kong’s trend-setting creative class.”

Bringing together not only full on dancing, but different kinds of art forms. From painting, video-artists, fashion designers, and even composers. This one art night you shouldn’t miss!

Asian Single Dance Championship (ADSF)

DanceSport, anyone?

Don’t miss this ultimate dance experience, as top-ranking athletes make their way to Hong Kong as they compete in waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, slow foxtrot and quickstep.

Happening this 14-16 of September at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

Ballet Classics for Children: Carnival of the Animals

Here’s one for the children, and children at heart!

Come this fun theater experience that features cameo appearances by your favourite classic characters like Swan Lake’s Little Swans, The Sleeping Beauty’s Puss-n-Boots and the beautiful Bluebird, and more. It’s going to be one interactive educational programme not only for kids,but for the whole family!

Creature of the Night

Here’s one for you!

As artist, Li Yongjing, infuses all kinds of difficult sentiments into her one of a kind dance style bringing us the first full-length choreography work involving space and imagination as it brings an invigorating experience to the audience.

Lecture Series and Workshops on Contemporary Dance

Letting go of those creative juices, as here comes some choreographic experimental time.

The workshop will guide the participants to explore and discuss the special qualities of modern dance and contemporary dance through specially designed interactive sessions and watching dance performance video clips

Zaguán & Alento by Ballet Nacional de España (Spanish National Ballet)

Seeking to draw a disposition of  transitional space comes a Flamenco Ballet (Zaguan)  and a personal vision of classic Spanish dance (Alento) by Ballet Nacional de España (BNE) as it challenges company director, Antonio Najarro, which aims to showcase the company’s new aesthetic and stylistic approach.

Culture and art, in one stage running from the 21st till the 23rd of September at the Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium.


Another one from City Contemporary Dance Company for the month of October.

Showcasing of what was  history and the passing of time to the current state of our society and its people.

Don’t miss the first week of October for another liberating performance by the CCDC, happening on October 5-7 at the CCDC Studio Theater.

British Ballet Hong Kong Auditions

Shoutout to all young and talented ballet dancers ages 8-18!

Competition season may be over, but that doesn’t mean that your time to shine in training is over.

As Ballet Boost being a very successful British Ballet program comes to Hong Kong, this can be a great addition to every young dancer’s classes.

“We are dedicated to helping develop, nurture & inspire the new generation of ballet dancers of tomorrow. The classes are run in addition to your regular ballet training.”

Auditions will be held on the 7th of October, so save the date for more training as this takes you closer to your professional ballerina dreams!
